Having been involved with the UK Bowel Cancer Screening Programmes since 1998 Alpha Laboratories has many years’ experience in faecal haemoglobin (f-Hb) testing. The Alpha Laboratories solution for FIT stool testing is the HM-JACKarc system from Minaris Medical Co., Ltd.
HM-JACKarc offers fully automated testing on a compact bench top system, excellent sensitivity at the low end and simple, hygienic sample collection for patients.
This simple to use platform is fully automated to provide high throughput, quantitative f-Hb concentration results with a time to first result of just 5.6 minutes. The methodology is spherical turbidimetry, utilising a latex reagent specific for human haemoglobin. It has a wide dynamic range from 7ng/ml to 400 ng/ml (ng/ml = µg Hb/g faeces), making it ideal for use in clinical settings for both asymptomatic screening and assessment of samples from symptomatic patients.
Quantitative Faecal Immunochemical Tests (FIT) offer significant advantages over traditional guaiac based tests and qualitative FIT methods, both of which have subjective end points with varying cut off levels.
